A typical EDL Spy consolidation workflow:
-
Load EDL, XML or footage list
You can load any text list into EDL Spy's search box. Make sure that there is only one file name per line though (like in an EDL, XML or an Avid Media Summary).
Search for media file names in list
Use quick presets or powerful manual search settings to create a list of media file names from your footage list.
Search for media files on harddrive
Specify on or more directories and have EDL Spy search for the files (or folders) from your list.
Copy media files to new location
Generate and execute flexible shell scripts (.bat for Windows or .sh/.command for Mac OS) to automatically copy all media files from your EDL, XML or text list to a specified location.

Consolidate online footage from an offline EDL/XML:
For when your EDL, XML or footage list contains proxy file names with extensions or pre-fixes that are different from the original footage's file names (e.g. change a search result from "video_proxy.mov" to "video.mxf").
Consolidate RED R3D folders:
For when your EDL, XML or footage list contains proxy file names of which you want to copy the original R3D folders.
Create a text-list of directory contents:
Choose to index files and/or folders, separated by line-breaks or custom characters (e.g. commas for a CSV list).
Create directory structures:
For when you want to create empty directory structures quickly (e.g. new project directories with several levels of subdirectories).
System requirements:
A computer running Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac OS X, with the free Java Runtime Environment installed and a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768 (higher recommended).
