EDL Spy - Consolidate media files the right way!

  • Trial Version: Beta 0.8.0 2014-04-29
EDL Spy is still in beta state and provided "as is". That being said, I have tested EDL Spy thoroughly and used it successfully on numerous TV and cinema projects at my clients' facilites. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an e-mail.

Launching EDL Spy:
  • EDL Spy comes as a Java executable file, which needs the free Java Runtime Environment to be installed on your computer. The JRE is available both for Windows and Mac computers.

  • If EDL Spy doesn't launch after double-clicking the .jar file in Windows, your file associations might be wrong. I recommend the free Jarfix App to quickly fix this.

Tab 1 "Get files from EDL":
  • Make sure that there are no accidental leading or trailing spaces in your search results. Depending on your operating system's font, these may be difficult to spot. You might want to generally leave the checkbox labeled "Remove spaces around search results" checked.

Tab 2 "Search & consolidate files":
  • The Copy-Script-Creator filters the search item list for duplicate entries before creating a copy-script. So, if an EDL lists a file multiple times, it will only be copied once.

System requirements:

A computer running Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac OS X, with the free Java Runtime Environment installed and a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768 (higher recommended).
